Our favorites

When we decided to do Myths and Legends Week, I didn’t realize exactly how many series fall under this theme. I spent more than a month saying “Oh! This one!” “Oh! This one!” Then I realized that we would never be able to fit all of our favorites into one week.  So Greta and I wanted to take this time to share some of our other favorites.

(All of the following blurbs were taken directly from the authors’ sites. Because lets face it, they can describe their series a lot better than I can.)

Lords of the Underworld

By Gena Showalter

Long ago, twelve immortals warriors – each more dangerously seductive than the last — stole and opened Pandora’s box, unleashing the evil from within.  Now they carry that evil within themselves.  Violence, Pain, Death, Disease, Disaster, Misery, Doubt, Promiscuity, Defeat, Lies, Secrets, and Wrath.  When a powerful enemy returns, they will travel the world in search of a sacred relic of the gods – one that threatens to destroy them all.

Doomsday Brethern

By Shayla Black

In today’s world of technology, science and logic, few people realize that magic lives and breathes-and walks on two legs-among mortals. Or that magickind possesses a weapon that can hurt, heal, comfort, destroy, grant fantasies, bring peace. Or, in the hands of someone terrible and strong enough to call forth its power, the weapon can bring about Doomsday.

Created during the days of the Round Table, it resurfaces in modern-day London and is sought by a wizard of evil brilliance with one goal: dominion over human and magical worlds alike. Only a band of wizards, enemies who must learn to become friends and accept love, can save the world from destruction.

The Warriors of Poseidon

by Alyssa Day

Eleven thousand years ago, before the seas swallowed the Atlanteans, Poseidon assigned a few chosen warriors to act as sentinels for humans in the new world. There was only one rule–desiring them was forbidden. But rules were made to be broken . . .

Dark-Hunters

by Sherrilyn Kenyon

We are Darkness. We are Shadow. We are the Rulers of the Night.  We, alone, stand between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. We are the Guardians. The Soulless Keepers.

Our souls were cast out so that we would not forewarn the Daimons we pursue. By the time they see us coming, it’s too late. The Daimons and Apollites know us. They fear us. We are death to all those who prey upon the humans.

Neither Human, nor Apollite, we exist beyond the realm of the Living, beyond the realm of the Dead.

We are the Dark-Hunters. And we are eternal.

Yeah, yeah. Enough of the doom and gloom because, baby, that ain’t us. You want to know what a Dark-Hunter is? We are what the intro says. We’re Mad, Bad and Immortal. We’re ancient warriors with attitudes who fight rough, and play hard.

We are the scary things that go bump in the night. And we love every minute of it. So when you think you’re being watched. You just might be. The question is…is it something evil or is it one of us?

Well, there’s ours. Who are your favorites? Who did we miss?

Today’s giveaway will be a $15 gift certificate to All Romance ebooks. To be entered for a chance to win, just leave a comment. The winner will be drawn Sunday afternoon. Good luck! 😀

  1. Definitely Dark-Hunters. I just finished “Infinity” last night, and now am re-reading “Bad Moon Rising” and gushing over it in an attempt to get a male friend of mine to read it as well.

I can’t think of any others you’re missing, at least not adult ones. For Juvenile/Young Adult.. I would definitely say “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” would fit.

  2. Ooh. You picked some good ones. Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld are definitely one of my favorites… along with Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark. But there’s so many great authors to choose from!

  3. Without a doubt Dark-Hunters are one of the best. Haven’t had the pleasure of reading Shayla Blacks series but it looks great.

  4. OHhhhwowowowo… this is a great mini “grocery” list of books to get!!!!! I have to agree.. I love Gena’s series to death!!!!!

  5. I love Alyssa and Sherrilyn’s books. I have Gena’s and Shayla’s books in my TBR pile. I need to get to them!

  6. I’ve had Addison Fox;s Warrior Ascended: The Sons of the Zodiac on my wish list. Her book looks like it fits right in.

  7. I love those series too. Please count me in. 🙂

  8. I love, love The Dark Hunters and Lords of The Underword.
The Brethern and The Warriors of Poseidon are my favorites as well. Great choices….

  13. I’ve just started reading Gena Showalters LotU and her Atlantis series and they are both fantastic.
    Great picks.

  14. I’ve got Shayla’s Doomsday Brethren books on my TBB list…I’ve got one of them on my TBR list but I like to read in the order they were published so I’ve gotta wait till I have them all.

  15. Love all these series. They are all great! Just got done rereading SK Dark Hunters series. Love Gena Showalter too. Can’t wait for the new books that are coming out this year!

  16. Of course my favorites are the Dark Hunters, Showalter, Cole, and I’ve read one of Shayla Black’s.. I need to get the rest of hers but too many books I want and very little money.

  17. Jessica Andersen’s Final Prophecy novels. I also really like Sherrilyn’s and Gena’s work. Haven’t read Alyssa or Shayla’s stuff yet.

  18. Kresley coles would be my pick that you left off.

  19. I love Kresley Cole and Christine Feehan’s Dark Series,Leopard Series and her Ghostwalker Series. I don’t know if you would count them in this group or not but I love Lora Leigh’s Breed Series some of my favorite books. I really love Sherrilyn Kenyon and Gena Showalter’s books too and their books are always on my to buy list with these authors.

  20. You have a great list there. And yes, Kenyon’s Dark Hunters are my faves. I also enjoy Cole’s Immortals After Dark series and Ione’s Demonica series. They rock my socks off too!

  21. All of these sound good!
Shayla Blacks Doomsday Brethern is my favorite along with Larissa Ione’s demonic series.

  22. good choices:)

  25. […] a bonus entry in the All Romance ebook gift certificate giveaway, just leave a comment.  What covers have caught your eye recently? And can a cover influence […]

  26. Love the Warriors of Poseidon. Haven’t had the chance to read the others yet(budget is growing hoarse from screaming “NO!” at me). Have read Showalter’s Atlantis books.
My favorite shifters are written by Shelly Laurenston. Absolutely love her Magnus/Pride series.
My favorite vampires are Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series(another group originally from Atlantis).
But in general, I like books that mix paranormal beings. After all if one myth is real, others must be too. My favorite series with a mixture of beings is Christine Warren’s Others series.

  27. I really like the books you mentioned 🙂 S. Kenyon’s are one of my favourites.

  28. I just started reading Joey Hill’s mermaid and vampire books. I just love the covers.
