NICK and the rest of Stephanie Tyler’s SEALs are here today

Greta: Nick thank-you for coming back to visit today. I kept my promise from last November you are getting you own interview.

Nick: You’re a good woman, Greta.  I’ll try to keep the riff-raff out of here.

What have you been up to since you were last here in November?

Nick: Most of it’s classified.

Jake: I didn’t realize Kaylee was classified.

Nick: *sighs deeply* This place needs better security.

Jake: Payback’s a bitch, my brother.

Nick: Anyway, like I was saying, I’ve been OUTCONUS with my SEAL Team for a while, but I had to come back for my book’s release.  Because I’m sure my book will sell the best.

Chris: Keep dreaming.

Jake to Chris: Two words: Pink cover

Chris: Women love pink.

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and Kaylee?

Jake: When they can pull themselves apart, you mean?  Or when he went on a totally unauthorized mission and nearly got himself killed?  Or…

Nick: Point taken.  It’s a definite race to save Kaylee from rogue agents.  She needed my help and she had nowhere else to turn.  I couldn’t abandon her.

Jake: And the fact that you fell for her from like, second number one had nothing to do with that decision to help her, right?

Nick: *growls softly*

I understand that your story Too Hot To Hold was released yesterday, can you tell the readers about it?

Chris: I basically have to head to Africa and save his ass…

Jamie: You weren’t alone, Chris.  In fact, you wouldn’t have been able to find your brother if it wasn’t for me.

Jake: And me.

Nick: Hello, this is my book, remember?  Jake, you weren’t even there.  And I had everything under control.  There were no plan crashes in my life.  And Kaylee and I are on a race to save her life – and in the process, we end up helping Clutch and Sarah as well.  It all stems back to my very first mission with the SEALs.

How did you like working with Stephanie Tyler?

Nick: I liked messing with her.  Not in that way.  But I made things pretty tough on her, I admit.  She did a good job, all things considered.

Stephanie: Gee, thanks Nick. Your approval means everything.

Nick: Someone needs a sense of humor.

Have you read Too Hot To Hold yet? What did you think of it?

Nick: It’s awesome.  It’s my book.

Kaylee clears her throat.

Nick: Right, it’s our book.  That starts out about me.

Okay, I have to ask, how tired of you hearing all the females scream JAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jake: I think he likes it.

Nick: *Rolls his eyes* Come on ladies, I think NICK rolls better off the tongue, if you know what I mean…

Will readers see you, Kaylee or your brothers in the future?

Nick: You’ll see all of us in Chris’s book, HOLD ON TIGHT, which comes out in a few weeks.  The brothers are never too far apart.

Can you share with readers what Stephanie is currently working or what we can expect from her in the future?

Nick: She’s working on Zane’s book now – he’s a SEAL on our team.  A good guy when he’s not being a pain in the ass.  His book’s out after Cam’s.

Chris: You’ll meet Cam in my book.  You know, the one that comes out in 3 weeks.  Let’s take a bet that mine does the best.

Jake and Nick together:  Pink book.

Is there anything you would like to ask the readers?

Nick: I’d rather hear them yelling my name.

Where can readers find information about Stephanie on the internet?

Nick: Head over to her website, http://www.stephanietyler.com/ for excerpts, books extras and more!

***Leave a comment asking Nick or Stephanie a question abouts SEALS  or the book for a chance to win a copy of HOLD ON TIGHT Stephanie Tyler’s upcoming release. Good Luck 🙂

Extremely Excited to welcome Jake from Hard to Hold by Stephanie Tyler …and Chris & Nick

JAKE, thank you for agreeing to an interview today on my blog.

Can I personally say, I am excited to finally meet you!

Jake:  It’s not the first time we’ve met…remember last year when we got together and…oh right, yeah, good to meet you, Greta.

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself, your brothers Nick & Chris, as well as Isabelle?

Nick:  Did you see my review in RT?  They’re calling my book edgy and sexy.

Jake: My book was called brilliant in that review.  So yeah, back to me…

Chris:  The trilogy is about the three of us – Navy SEALs and brothers by adoption.

Greta: Nick, Chris nice of you to join us. You do know you were both going to get your own interviews, right?

Jake:  *muttering*  I’m so going to ruin all your interviews.

Nick:  And in Hard to Hold, Jake gets all whipped by Izzy.

Jake:  Yeah, Kaylee does a pretty good job on you, brother.

Nick:  Gotta run.

I understand that your story Hard to Hold is being released today, can you tell the readers about it?

Jake:  Well, the blurb’s pretty cool, because you know, warrior and all.  Check this out:

Maximum danger.
Maximum desire.
And holding on for dear life…

The Special Ops hero feared nothing -until he met a woman too hot to hold…

Lt. Jake Hansen has survived some of the riskiest missions known to man. But now the wounded Navy SEAL faces his toughest job yet: Smuggling Dr. Isabelle Markham out of Africa without triggering an international incident. Not easy to do when the gorgeous hostage happens to be a senator’s daughter —and about as easy to resist as an oasis in the desert…

If it weren’t for Jake, Isabelle would still be halfway across the world, where rebel forces left her for dead. The Special Ops warrior may have saved her life, but she doesn’t need him to protect her now. Tell that to the ruggedly handsome hunk in full battle fatigues who’s just been assigned Isabelle’s personal bodyguard. Close quarters aside, Isabelle won’t let Jake anywhere near her heart — until danger throws them together again…and nothing in the jungles of wildest Africa could prepare them for a passion this wild. This crazy. This hot….

Jake:  So basically, I save Isabelle and…

Isabelle:  And I call you on your shit.

Chris:  Oh, she shoots, she scores!

Jake:  Greta, you said this was my interview, remember?

I understand you know Stephanie Tyler and that she actually wrote your story Hard to Hold. What was it like working with her?

Jake: She’s pretty cool.  Pain in the ass stubborn though, so I guess that’s why we get along.

Have you read Hard to Hold yet? What did you think of it?

Jake:  Well…hey, what are you doing here?

Steph: I’ve got more bookmarks for you to hand out. So, what did you think of Hard to Hold?

Jake: I think you told all my secrets.

Steph:  *shrugs*  Whatever.  I also brought you together with Isabelle, so let’s remember that when you’re hand selling your book.

Jake:  Do you see what I have to put up with?

If Hard to Hold was made into a movie, which actor do you see portraying you, Isabelle, your brothers?

Jake:  They’re making a movie of my book – did you hear that?

Nick:  She said, if, man.  If it was made into a movie…

Jake:  When it is, I’m going to make sure your part is cut.

Nick:  You’re not answering the question.

Jake:  Screw it.

I’m sure you know that Stephanie is a member of the Writeminded Readers Yahoo Group, and you’ve already developed a huge following 🙂 How does it make you feel when you hear about readers screaming JAKE!!!!!!!!! How does Isabelle feel?

Jake:  Well, yeah, I like women screaming out my name.  *looks over shoulder for Isabelle*   Well, now I like one woman to do that, but you know…before…

Will readers see you, Isabelle or your brothers in the future?

Jake:  Nick’s got his story out January 5, 2010 – and Chris January 26, 2010 – you’ll see me and Isabelle in that one.  For Nick’s book, I was ah, busy, you know?

Chris:  I’m in all three books.  So yeah, being last does have its advantages.

Nick: Yeah, the advantage of a pink cover.

Jake:  Could the both of you get the hell out of here now?

Can you tell us something about Stephanie that readers may not know?

Jake:  I don’t think her husband knows she screams out my name.

Is there anything you would like to ask the readers?

Jake: Are you all going to keep screaming out my name?

Where can readers find information about Stephanie on the internet?

Jake:  Check out her website at www.StephanieTyler.com.  And buy my book…or I’ll hunt you down.

***Leave a comment asking Jake or Stephanie any questions about Hard To Hold and one lucky comment will win an autographed copy. Good Luck 🙂

The name thing…with Stephanie Tyler

ttf042309

Hi everyone!  Greta, thanks for having me here in anticipation of Sydney Croft’s new release, Taming The Fire.  The other half of Syd, Larissa Ione, is partying at the Romantic Times Convention (and claiming she misses me terribly) but she’s here in spirit.  Meanwhile, you all get to hear me babble.  And there’s a giveaway at the end as your reward for listening.

Someone in the Writeminded monthly chat the other night asked about authors chose names for characters – for example, do we create the character and then choose the name or vice-versa.

It’s pretty much neither for me – in fact, as I told the reader, my heroes sort of just arrive in my head, fully formed (as another reader said, fully formed SEALs!!!!)…and they have a name.  Sometimes it’s a name that I’ve heard before and then the characters with that name shows up, but most of the time it’s like, oh, Trance – look at him.

I never said writers weren’t a little bit crazy, but hey, that’s honestly what keeps the writing part so much fun.  For example, I vividly remember writing the opening scene for Taming The Fire (which releases this coming Tuesday, April 28th – YAY!)  from Trance’s point of view back in January 2007, while we were not even halfway through writing Seduced By The Storm

Trance shows up briefly at the end of that book, so it’s not like we went, oh, we need to decide who’s next.  No, Trance showed up and was like, I’m next.  And I’m wearing leather.

So really, who was I to argue?

Of course, Larissa immediately stopped writing Seduced to write the first Ulrika (aka Rik) scene – and lo and behold, she was wearing some leather too.  And she was a shape-shifting wolf.  And Taming was born.

I remember Larissa asking me, what’s Trance’s last name?

I emailed back, Trance.  Like Madonna.  Or Cher.

She emailed back that she hated me.

I emailed her back and told her that I had several more really fun names lined up!  Like Chance.  And…

Well, I can’t give everything away about the next two Sydney books, now can I?

But hey, Larissa came up with Ulrika  and she had some explanation about how the name fit with the roots of the character’s origin, etc.

I tried to tell her that Trance had roots too, but then she gave me that look – you know, the kind you can see even across a computer.

I told you writing the Sydney books together was a lot of fun.

But anyway, back to the name thing – Larissa always gets a bit nervous about names. Okay, sometimes she outright groans at the names I pick (which, come on, how fun is that?)

I know what you’re saying – look at Larissa’s Demonica names!  How can she complain about your names with names like Eidolon, Shade and Wraith? She picks weird names too…

I guess this is where I tell you that she emailed me way back in spring 2006 and said, I need demon names.  And I sent her names like Wraith and Shade and Eidolon (which, by the way, is the name of my high school yearbook – and I went to a Catholic school.  A Catholic demon school, obviously.  No, seriously, it means, a Greek concept of a shade or astral double of a living being, so cool for both a yearbook and a demon!)…so when people complain about the weird Larissa demon names, I giggle to myself.

What?  At least I’m honest.

Maybe it’s because I’ve got a husband named Zoo that I like nicknames.  Most of my characters have normal names but go by their nicknames.

Well, except for Creed. And Hex. And Trance.

Even Larissa’s husband, when suggesting names to her, will say, this is a Stephanie-esque name….

Of course, I always like them.

There’s just something about a strong, cool nickname that does it for me.  Of course, I also like some good, old-fashioned names, like Jake.  But that’s a whole other story.  About SEALs.   Fully formed ones at that.

What about you?  What’s your favorite name for a hero or heroine?  Has there ever been a character where you loved the name but didn’t particularly like the character, or does the name play a large part in forming your opinion of a character?

Leave your answer in the comments to be eligible to win a choice from Sydney’s backlist – Riding the Storm, Unleashing The Storm, Seduced By The Storm or Hot Nights, Dark Desires!
