Micah Hudson has painful secrets he’s run hard from. He has new friends, a new life, but he’s about to be confronted with the one person who reminds him of all he’s tried to forget—Angelina, the sister of his oldest friend David. She knows everything about his past, including how he and David fell in love with the same woman, and how they decided the best way to prevent her from tearing them apart was to share her between them. But then a terrible accident left Micah alone…
She was willing to do anything to make him see the woman she’d become…
Micah lost the two people who meant the most in the world to him. Angelina lost her only family. And she kept her deepest secret close to her heart. Her love for Micah. No longer willing to wait, she decides it’s time to go after him and bring him to his knees. She knows his secrets, his desires, his kinks and fetishes, and she’ll use whatever it takes to reel him in. Behind the easy going, loves women exterior lies a man with dark needs and passions. She can give him what he wants. But will he decide she’s what he needs?
Sweet Temptation is book 4 in the Sweet series by Maya Banks. I’m not even going to make an attempt at summing up this book. The official blurb above does a great job of that. The only thing I want to add is about the suspense. Angelina had a stalker problem while in Miami. After being raised by a cop, she knew the appropriate steps to take and did them. When that didn’t work, she fled to Texas, hoping to leave those problems behind her. Unfortunately, the stalker follows and Angelina must confess all to Micah in hopes that the stalker can be found before he finds her again.
This book has some edgy suspense, some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read, and enough emotion to make me teary-eyed more than once but the thing that stood out the most for me was the unique characters. Both Micah and Angelina are completely comfortable in their own skins. None of the angst and drama of wondering and doubting their sexual choices, just a willingness to embrace it and be who they are.
Another thing I loved about this story is the same thing I have enjoyed in every Maya Banks’ book. We get a strong heroine. Angelina doesn’t sit around, wringing her hands, waiting on the hero to waltz in and solve all her problems. She has a brain, she has common sense, and she’s not afraid to use either.
In case you haven’t guessed yet, I loved this book! I’ve loved every book in this series and, in my opinion, they just keep getting better and better. Sweet Temptation can be read as a stand alone with no problems, but the characters from all the previous Sweet books do play a big part in this one, so if you haven’t read the others books, you will be wanting to after reading Sweet Temptation.
Sexy, suspenseful, and of course, sweet. I really can’t recommend this book enough!
