Review: Solstice Surrender by Tracy Cooper-Posey

What a enjoyable read! This book starts out with our heroine, Jenna, sitting in a cafe, watching a man berate the woman he is with. She keeps thinking Dump the coffee in his lap. And then the woman does! As pandemonium erupts, Jenna realizes something isn’t right. There was no way she could have forced the woman’s actions, right? But now she has a gorgeous stranger who seems very familiar telling her that she has special powers and must be protected from a bad guy who wants to corrupt them for his use.

Rhys has been waiting centuries for the woman who is destined to be his. Now that he has found her, he must keep her safe, teach her to manage her talents, as well as convince her that they are each others destiny. All before the Solstice, which happens to be a couple of days away.

And that brings me to what I liked most about this story, the very cynical Jenna. If you have read many paranormal romances, I’m sure you have stumbled across a story where the average human heroine is told that vampires/dragons/psychics/werechickens/whatever exist and she blindly accepts it. That’s not  Jenna. She has questions, lots of questions. And this author did an amazing job of explaining the world of the Watchers. With as much detail as Mrs. Cooper-Posey put into Solstice Surrender, I’m hoping she will re-visit this group somewhere in the (near) future. I would love to see more.

Solstice Surrender contains a foot chase through the city, a confident but humble hero, a kick-ass heroine, and hot metaphysical sex in a hotel gift shop. Not for the faint of heart but it is for readers that like their paranormal romances fun and spicy.
