Review: Soldier Of Fortune by Shelley Munro

The decision to go to Iraq as part of a security force seems like the only choice available to Joanna “Mac” McGregor. Her beloved father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and she can not afford the care that he needs.  Joanna has the skills that are needed for the job and the money will allow her to give her father everything he deserves. She understands that being a female in a male dominated area will not be easy but she is prepared for that. What she is not prepared for is her boss in Iraq, Louie Lithgow.

Louie met Joanna while on vacation in Fiji, where they spent an unforgettable week together. After the vacation ended, Louie had tried to contacted her but she had given him all false information. After many attempts to find her, he had given up hope. Now that he has found her again, he has no intention of letting her go. Unfortunately, Joanna has a different plan. The sex with Louie may be fantastic but she doesn’t have time for emotional entanglements. Louie must convince her that she needs him every bit as much as he needs her.

This story has the perfect balance of what I look for in a book. It shows the heartbreak of watching someone you love disappear into the illness of Alzheimer, the danger and fear of being in a war zone, and the camaraderie of friends, while still keeping the romance the central point. Did I mention the scorching hot sex? Can’t forget that. Seriously hot!

I can’t recommend this book enough. Ms. Munro was a new-to-me author but I’ll definitely be hunting down her backlist in the near future. Wonderful book!

Available now at Ellora’s Cave.

Shelley Munro will be joining us on the blog Wednesday, November 25. Please stop by to say hello and enter her giveaway!
